Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Moving Disclosure
The former WWE champion, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, said on “Late Show with David Letterman” that he will be very much willing to return to WWE. However, he said that he will do that not for the purpose of making a match again but to do something fun such as guest-hosting. The Rock did not confirm as to when he will return but he talked positively about wrestling all throughout the interview.
Letterman interestingly asked The Rock if he would be “stepping back into that world and The Rock answered, “Not necessarily for a match, but that (WWE) provided me a great platform and if I went back, it would probably be in the capacity of hosting and having a good time.”
After that, The Rock recalled the good things about wrestling. He enthusiastically talked about the adrenaline rush and the “pop” appearance to a live wrestling audience that is incomparable to other forms of entertainment. The audience gave a big applause when Letterman had brought up the subject of “big time wrestling.”
Dwayne Douglas Johnson was also nudged a bit by Letterman by trying to drop “The Rock” from his promotion title. But Johnson simply said, “I’ll always be The Rock.” This drew more loud applause from the audience. “I got to tell you, it’s so cool to have Colin Powell come up to you and say, ‘Hey, how you doing Rock? To me, it’s the coolest damn nickname on the planet,” he added.
Johnson spent some time discussing about his family’s heritage in wrestling. But he gave the highlight to his father, Rocky Johnson, who works for the father of Vince McMahon and one of the first Black tag team champs. This also drew more applause from the audience.
The statement of Johnson made Letterman wondered why he does not opt to be called “Rock Johnson” instead, which was replied by Johnson with a good laugh. He said that such thought had never entered to his mind and he retorted that they can start something right on the Late Show.
After a while, Letterman recalled “The Wrestler” movie to Johnson. Then, he shared a story about the point when his father discouraged him to enter into the wrestling business in the 90’s. He said that his father pointed him at their small, two-bedroom apartment located in Tampa, Florida and trying to make him see that those are the only things he had after his 35 years of stay in the wrestling business. The story was ended by Johnson with a laugh, saying his father now is taking the credit for all of his success.
The first segment of the two-part segment ended with a picture of The Rock heading to a commercial. Then after the commercial, Johnson plugged his “Tooth Fairy” movie and wrapped up the segment.
