Carter outclassed Hawks with an amazing 30-foot buzzer-beater

January 3, 2009

Vince Carter brought the court to life again after sending another 3-points through a longe range buzzer beater.

Carter ran down the court after an inbound pass in the backcourt and hit a 3-pointer that beat the buzzer. The 3-pointer was from about 10-feet behind the arc. New Jersey Nets ended Atlanta Hawks’ six game winning streak with this fight on Friday night.

”Once it left my hand it felt darn good,” Carter said. ”I can say I have had shots, in 2001 vs. Philly in Game 7, that shot felt darn good, and then halfway it didn’t feel darn good. This one I let it go, and it had the proper arc and felt darn good from start to finish.”

The inbound pass was actually an exhilirating start. With only 5.3 seconds to play, Hawks’ Marvin Williams tipped it and the ball bounced a few steps over the halfcourt.  Carter then ran the ball down and then got a break when his guard didn’t press him. Carter then brought the ball into the frontcourt and pulled and shot his own 18-points ender.

”I had no idea,” Carter said when asked if he knew how much time was left. ”There might have been a second or two to go and I just wanted to hurry up and get my feet set and get a good shot. Once I let the ball go either we win or we don’t.”

Nets point guard Devin Harris  stated in an interview that ”It was the best, most-worst, most terrific shot I have ever seen go in,”

The win not only beat a single play for the Hawks but it also ended their 6-streak win-game.

Atlanta’s Mike Bibby arranged a good 22 points, and co-player Josh Smith added 20, with a layup with 11 seconds left in overtime making it more like the winning basket and adding more spice in the fight

”It was good shot, there was nothing you could do about that, it was almost halfcourt,” Bibby said.
